About Me
I am a highly qualified and experienced teacher of adults and children. My interest in studying and teaching languages began when I went to Paris to work as an au pair at the age of 18. I went on to study French and Italian at the University of Leicester and graduated with an honours degree. I then went to live in Italy where I taught English to adults and children.
In Sydney, Australia, I taught English as a Foreign Language to multi-lingual classes of adults and children. In 2000, I completed my Postgraduate Certificate in General Education at St Martin’s College, Carlisle. St Martin’s college is renowned for its innovative and communicative approach to teaching modern languages. I spent 3 years teaching secondary French and Italian and then began working for Cockermouth Adult Education Centre teaching French and Italian to adults. During this time, I assisted St Martin’s College in the delivery of their PGCE course by demonstrating their pioneering teaching methods to trainee and practising teachers. I had a “break” from teaching and became a full-time mum. I returned to teaching Italian for Cockermouth Adult Education Centre. In September 2015 the Cockermouth Adult Educaton Centre closed and Sunflower Languages became independent. Sunflower Languages has grown and developed since then. |
