"Foodie" trip to Padua- September 15th to 19th 2015
Went on the Padova trip in September 2015 and had excellent food, wine, chat with a great set of people and of course practiced my Italian. By the end of the trip my Italian had improved 100% I manage interact with local people very well in their own language; I did use some hand signals to be completely understood at times. The hotel was a typical Italian affair which I liked – very clean with all the necessary amenities. Padova is a wonderful local town so the chance to hear Italian helped me immensely.
The day trips to Verona was amazing with a lovely picnic on the river bank patio of meats, cheese and wine from the local deli, simply Italian wonderful. Venice was not what I expected and gave a chance to hear a range of Italian accents and also practice my Italian on a range of situations.
Wine tasting night was a jolly night with great banter from a great group of people.
I will be going again…………. Only down side, there has to be one…….. Italian charge for public WC’s so make sure 1 euro is always in your pocket………

Padova aprile 2015
Al Vigneto 'Ca Lustra aprile 2015
Venezia aprile 2015
On 25th April a group of twelve of us went to Padua to practice our Italian and visit the beautiful city of Padua (the setting of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew.)
We took a minibus to Leeds Bradford airport - a journey made more entertaining thanks to Clare and Phil and their generous donation of a small bottle of Prosecco each! We flew from Leeds Bradford airport to Venice Treviso where we took a bus transfer to the hotel Albergo Verdi in Padua. The hotel were brilliant and all the staff spoke in Italian to our group. As with the previous trip, the group had tasks to complete which involved speaking in Italian as much as possible. The Italian people we met were more than happy to chat to us in Italian and help us to improve. During the day people chose where they would like to go. We split into small groups and couples. Some people explored Padua, some went to Venice, Vicenza even Bologna. In the evenings we met up for Aperitivi which was usually a "Spritz" with some antipasti. We then ate together and exchanged stories about what we had done during the day. We enjoyed a visit to the vineyard 'Ca Lustra where we had a tour around the vineyard and a wine tasting al fresco. Becky’s experience and excellent organisation skills ensured that we had a wonderful trip to Padua. Everything went like clockwork (except for roadworks on the A1): great hotel, opportunities to visit lovely places, near public transport, lots to see in Padua itself, wide selection of restaurants and cafes. Definitely recommended.

Eravamo molto brilli ogni giorno!! Abbiamo visitato Bologna e siamo andati in treno. In Bologna, abbiamo trovato un buonissimo enoteca. Abbiamo comprato molte bottiglie di vino rosso della regione. È stata una buonissima vacanza

Really enjoyed the trip & well done Becky for organising a lovely few days in such an interesting area.

I would thoroughly recommend going on one of Becky's Italian trips. It was very well organised and it was really beneficial to be immersed into Italian life and I felt that it helped to improve my Italian at the same time as having a very enjoyable, action-packed short break

"The trip was brilliant! It was well organised and yet provided the flexibility for people to pursue their own interests. I now feel more confident to try to speak Italian."

“Thoroughly enjoyable and I got to do almost all I had hoped for. Padua was a delightful town, Verona much too crowded to fully enjoy but everywhere we went seems to be excellent value for money. The markets (except for me the Sunday one!) were great and we found some super little bars/cafes/restaurants offering wonderful food and drink at such reasonable prices.”

"The trip was well organised and very enjoyable. Lots of new places to see and explore and opportunities to practice speaking Italian. A great way to put these lessons to good use as well as a terrific boost to your confidence in discovering how much you actually know!”
